Bourbon Rickey You’re So Fine

Drop that cinnamon-maple-apple-honey-or-whatever-the-trend-is whiskey cocktail right now. Go classic. Simple. Effortless. Drink a Bourbon Rickey. The original Rickey. Circa 1895 from “Colonel” (he was really a lobbyist in DC) Joe (though some say Jim) Rickey.

Bourbon Rickey

Heed the Colonel’s advice and “Don’t drink too many.”

  • 2 ounces of good quality Bourbon
  • Juice from half a lime
  • Club soda
  • Ice

Pour 2 ounces of good quality Bourbon into a Solo cup or Mason jar. Hey, we are at a tailgate, right? Squeeze lime juice into glass. Add ice. Top off with club soda. Stir.

I prefer adding ice last so the drink doesn’t get watered down. It’s bad technique. Don’t care. Get proper and fill the glass with ice first and then add the other ingredients.
